Upfront: Inside the Entertainment Business (UF)

Ray Cornelius

We are pleased and proud to offer public radio stations a weekly program that covers the work of today’s entertainment professionals – including a rapidly growing field of black artists.

Upfront: Inside the Entertainment Industry, hosted by Ray Cornelius (out of Atlanta) is a weekly magazine that features interviews with today’s artists and entertainers.  Atlanta has become “Southern Hollywood”, a movement with great momentum since Tyler Perry opened his production studios in the city. No matter where the art is created, it will undoubtedly tour through Atlanta if it’s hot – particularly if the creators seek to reach the African-American audience.

including Tyler Perry, Phylicia Rashad, Crystal Fox, and Bresha Webb.

Past guests include Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett, Questlove, rising star jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, “Pose” star Billy Porter, producer/director Tyler Perry, SNL writer and comedian Michael Che, actress Holly Robinson Pete, Eddie Murphy, “Pose” star Billy Porter, Janelle Monae, Eddie Murphy, and Tyler Perry, to name a few.

Cornelius, a pop-culture expert, and filmmaker, is sitting down one-on-one with all of the major players and the behind-the-scenes influencers that make ATL Hollywood South. We get the skinny on their latest projects and their authentic experiences in the field.

The show, a 30-minute weekly magazine, is produced at the studios of WCLK-FM in Atlanta. Our sincere thanks to Ray and the WCLK management team for working with us to transition this timely arts magazine into a national show.
