Public radio listeners tend to be life-long learners, socially conscious, and achievement oriented. These listeners include a high concentration of college graduates, and they vote in high numbers. Public radio listeners are avid readers, and many are opinion leaders. Our stations attract these listeners with their dedication to community engagement, quality music and cultural shows, and editorially sound news programs.
In creating the AAPRC, our goal was to increase the amount of African-American content available to public radio stations nationwide. We’re honored that African-American, General Audience, Latino, and Native American public radio stations broadcast our content. We have especially sought to include stations located at HBCU’s (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) where many black college grads tune in.
